Now you have your website, and you are wondering how do you go about promoting it? Getting traffic to your website is very important and without traffic you will not get any sales. The more traffic to your website, the higher the chance you will have in obtaining sales for your efforts.
Briefly, I will cover some of the areas that I have used to achieve traffic to my website that has resulted in sales. I will be covering this in more detail later on my website in the blog section. One of the ways that I find works is registering your website with major search engines.
How this is done is by using keywords related to your niche and registering with search engines such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo. A tip that I use to ensure a good listing position, for a certain keyword on Google for instance, is to implement the following:
* Have a content rich website
* Make sure to keep changing or add fresh content
* Use keyword or variations of keywords on your landing pages
* Try establishing links from well-respected and established websites in your related niche
Keep in mind, you do not need a special software that will submit your website to hundreds of search engines. I personally do not recommend those. Using a directory like Dmoz is another great way to get your website out there. Websites like Dmoz will list web addresses by category and is a great way to get exposure to your site. It takes a while to get indexed, but is worth adding your site to. Both Google and Yahoo also have directories.
Some key points I would like to point out in promoting your website. Make sure to use keywords that are specific to your niche. This is very important. Make sure that your landing page which, is the page that your visitors will arrive at, is relevant to your niche and grabs your visitors attention. You will have approximately five seconds to grab their attention, so keep this in mind when creating your landing page. Keep moving, keep testing out ideas, add or remove wording, etc...
Last, but not least, this is one of my favorites. Writing unique articles on your niche and submitting them to article directories like Street Articles, EzineArticles, and Article City. Always make sure when writing your articles that you use unique content and include a link to your website. Your articles should be interesting, and contain useful content for your readers. These are just a few techniques to drive traffic to your website, and the best part is they are free!
