There is no doubt that web-advertising giant, Google Inc. is one of the most successful businesses in the history of the human race. But how did they do it? What can we learn from their story?
Actually there is plenty to be learnt from the amazing Google story. The most amazing thing about this behemoth of a company is that they have gotten that big without ever having to advertise their business. It started with their revolutionary search engine which many of us use every day. It was good and word of mouth is what promoted it. To date the strategy at Google is to build something so good and useful that it literally sells itself.
Did you realize that today Google makes most of its' money helping others with their web advertising? Also note that the Google ads are designed not to look like ads at all. Those tiny text things look much more like links to further information. More so because they are always relevant to the content you are reading at a site or to the search that you have just done at Google.
This is probably the most significant web-advertising secret you will ever come across. The truth is that folks hate to be advertised to online. What this means is that the most effective way of reaching a large number of people with your message is to package it as information and to place it only where it is relevant. Naturally one of the most effective ways of accomplishing this is by using articles where you give out genuinely useful information related to your product and service just like I have done with this article.
Christopher Kyalo earns a living online and he does not use any other method of advertising on the web other than promotional articles. A Simple Secret to Get to the Top of Google Smart Website Promotion Before Writing a Single Word
Effectively designing each web page and promoting your website is what will separate you from probably 99% of all other so-called "webmasters." Why? Because quite simply they have no idea what to do or how important website promotion is while you, in just a few minutes, will know precisely what to do to get to the top of Google.
Do you know that there are, literally, trillions of web pages on the Net? Hundreds of millions of web sites. Most web pages get little or no traffic while only a small minority of web pages get enormous traffic.
In the vast expanse of the internet, a website without traffic might as well not exist and that fact, coupled with the enormous number of different web pages already online, can be pretty overwhelming at first blush for most people. Sadly for them, they fail.
Yet, for all those "webmasters" who fail to ever get decent traffic, there are many others who not only survive but thrive. Are they simply lucky? Or is there something else at play here?
Here is a a secret I discovered. Getting to the top of Google's Search Results is not nearly as hard as it seems.
What's at the top? Traffic gold! Nearly 90% of all web page traffic goes to a web page displayed on the first page of a search engine's Search Results.
While it is improbable to get each of your web pages onto the first page of Google (or Yahoo or Bing) Search Results, if you follow a few simple rules you can get several of them there.
Think about it this way: somebody is at the top. Are you not at least as deserving? So, what are you waiting for?
Take the time to design your web page so you can get to the top of Google. The trick is to design it around a keyword that, with some good website promotion, will rocket it past the competition.
All you need to do is to know the secret formula.
Website promotion and getting to the top of Google begins before you write your first word. This is because every web page (whether you know it or not) depends upon optimal keyword selection. Select the best keyword and you will get good traffic and rise rapidly in the Search Results. Pick a poor keyword and you may not get much traffic or face so much competition you will never get ranked.
Now, fact is, your competition probably thinks their keywords are the best---or they wouldn't use them. Yet, if you were to ask them how they could tell a great keyword from a poor one, they would have no answer because their process was wholly subjective.
In contrast, your evaluative process needs to be wholly objective. No seat-of-the-pants, feel-good-about, page building. Nope. Your approach should be hard-nosed, based solely on objective evidence.
Here's what to do.
Build your web page around a keyword that has both of these characteristics: global monthly searches of 3,000 or more (the higher the better) and fewer than 80,000 competing pages on Google (the fewer the better).
Any keyword getting less than 3,000 searches monthly is not going to produce enough daily traffic to worry about so ignore keywords that do not meet that criteria. 4,000 is better than 3,000; 10,000+ is even better, and so on. Use free software like the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find keywords satisfying or exceeding the 3,000 searches/month element.
Then, equally importantly, use that keyword in your web page only if it meets the second criteria: fewer than 80,000 competing web pages for the exact same keyword. Why? Because, believe it or not, with some intelligent link building and website promotion techniques, 80,000 competing pages are not very many to overcome!
How can you tell the number of competing pages? Easy. Simply go to the Google browser (not Yahoo or Bing), place the keyword between quotation marks, and click. You will immediately see the number of competing pages. Use 80,000 as the ceiling but remember that for this element, the fewer the better. 50,000 is better than 80,000; 25,000 is outstanding.
Tip: If the keyword has good traffic but the number of competing web pages is too high, make a little change and search again. Sometimes the addition of a single letter (from singular to plural) or a single word will get you below the 80,000 magic number.
Here is a concrete example. Suppose you are writing a page about how to create a blog. Using Google AdWords Keyword Tool you see the keyword blog software has 60,500 global monthly searches. Wonderful! Lots of searches.
But, when you take that keyword, put it between quotation marks ("blog software") and search it on Google's browser, you find over 10,000,000 competing pages. Impossible to compete?
Not at all.
Change the search to "blog software recommendations" and voila!, there are only about 25,000 competing pages that contains your keyword.
Once you have built your web page around a keyword that has good traffic and not a lot of competing pages, you are ready to begin promoting your website for those all important backlinks. The secret is to build backlinks to each webpage, one at a time, using this strategy:
1. Write articles. Submit articles relevant to each web page to free article directories. Use technology to create unique versions and post to dozens, if not more article directory websites and be sure to put in two backlinks, one to the homepage and the other to the page being promoted, with appropriate keyword anchor text. Automate this process for efficiency.
2. Bookmark each new web page to social network sites using free, automated software that posts the URL of that web page.
3. Contribute quality blog posts and comments to relevant, high Google Page Rank blogs.
4. Submit your home page URL to hundreds, or more, free website directories with cheap automated software
5. Track the number of backlinks to each of your web pages using an incredibly powerful, totally free, link research tool at MajesticSEO.com. As a web page begins to climb in rank, your website promotion strategy will be to build more links pointing to that page.
Now, how will this strategy help you get to the top of Google or move your page up quickly in Google's Search Results and bring you more traffic?
The answer lies in how you designed your web page. Before you wrote a single word, you designed it for good traffic and few competing pages.
And your competitors? Still in the dark, they are.

AdWords - Has the Google God Become Too Powerful
First, a quote.
"And remember, where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. All power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." -John Emerich Edward Dalberg-Acton, 1st Baron Acton, KCVO, DL (10 January 1834 - 19 June 1902)
Over the years Google has progressively tightened its advertising guidelines, mostly for the best. It used to be that anyone could competitively bid on keywords and place an ad on AdWords, even if the keywords they bid on were irrelevant to their ad. Also, gone are the days when an advertiser could pay their way out of the $5 or $10 "Google slap" for a poor quality ad.
In 2009, one of the enhancements Google added to their overhauled AdWords interface was a numeric 10 point quality scoring system for each keyword in an ad group. The higher the score, the more in-line the keyword is to the ad and landing page content. But like all things Google, advertisers are still in the dark over what constitutes any particular score. Google gives general guidelines on how to write a good ad and how it should relate to a landing page, but there is no checklist of items that guarantees a perfect 10. How can an advertiser improve its quality scores without knowing what needs tweaking?
I've been using AdWords since 2003. For about 1-1/2 years I was using it to exclusively promote a fitness product. My entire site was related to a single merchant's product.
Coveted Ad Positioning and CPC
I did not bid on the merchant's branded name because like many merchants, they prohibit it. Rather, I bid on a handful of broad, yet closely related fitness terms. I maintained excellent positioning in the "sweet spot", hovering around the 4th position on the first page, with ad costs at only pennies per click. My ads were always profitable and when Google introduced the numeric scoring system, I maintained quality scores in the 7/10 range.
In the summer of 2009 I modified an ad just like I had done countless times over the years. The next morning I noticed my campaign had no ad impressions. I dug into the keywords and saw that Google had given them quality scores of 0 and refused to display the ads, yet nothing on my site or keywords had changed and the modification I made to the ad was insignificant. How is it possible to go from preferential positioning and pricing for 1-1/2 years and then in the blink of an eye lose it all?
Google Burns Its Bridges
As near as I can tell, the modification triggered a quality audit. After weeks of wrangling with the AdWords team and their canned email replies, it came down to one thing. Google considered my landing page a "bridge page" and my overall site content "poor" because my content wasn't unique enough for them.
Google wants to create a good advertising experience for its shoppers by eliminating what it believes, replicates the merchant's site. In other words, they think that a shopper would rather / should rather (in their opinion) see only the merchant's site and not an affiliate's site promoting the merchant's products.
One of my main arguments was that my customers didn't know the product by its brand name. Instead, they were searching for a solution to fill a fitness need. That's the sole reason for choosing the keywords I did. My sales history was solid proof that I was dead on target with them.
My site converted those visitors into paying customers. I received emails from the affiliate manager and the owner of the company telling me what a great job I was doing and to keep it up. I was even rewarded with an exclusive coupon code. I forwarded those comments to the AdWords team in my defense, but they still refused to re-approve my ads.
Google Gives Advice, Even If It May Not Work...Which It Didn't
Google provided a few recommendations for gaining back my former glory. One caveat though, they warned that even if I did what they suggested, my campaign may never recover. That turned out to be true. I went through the entire dog and pony show and nothing I did to the site from that point on could pull it out of the abyss. Even new pages I built following all of their guidelines got a quality score of 0. It was obvious they weren't rating the single landing page from my ad. Instead, they were looking at the entire domain and my domain now seemed to be black-balled.
1) Google doesn't like affiliate pages. They consider them bridge pages to the merchant. So what, I say. There are times when experienced affiliates can make a better sales pitch than the merchant's own site, can make a better visual presentation, or give testimonials from personal experience after using the product. Or, I'll point out once again, a shopper may not know the brand name of a product, therefore will search with generic terms describing what a product does or the benefits they hope to receive from a product.
2) Google doesn't like affiliates to promote only one product on their site. It's their stance that such sites replicate the merchant's site. Google told me that I had to add products to my site that the merchant doesn't sell in order to make my site unique from the merchant's.
I don't like creating pages like that because they take the spotlight off of my featured product and send my visitors off shopping on another site. People get sidetracked while browsing and if they don't come back, that's a lost sale. I have one job as an affiliate and that's to promote the merchant's product to the best of my ability, not send them to another merchant's site.
In some cases, a merchant may not like its products being compared to those of another because their own products may cost more. Consumers don't always look at quality, they want a bargain. A year ago I struck up a deal with a web hosting company to get lower pricing on their plans for my customers. However, I was prohibited from advertising their company in any type of comparative manner, like many web hosting affiliates do, because even at the lower price, they were still two to three times more than other companies.
I'm not completely against all of Google's advertising guidelines. I agree with them that ads should not be misleading, a landing page should provide what the ad says it will and a visitor should not have to opt-in to a mailing list to get the information promised in the ad.
The Google Monopoly
But the Google god has taken on the "gangster mentality" that Baron Dalberg-Acton referred to. Google has monopolized AdWords by excluding single-merchant affiliates, yet permitting the original merchants of the product to advertise. It drives down the competition by allowing the original merchants to corner the market on PPC. Should Google be allowed to tell affiliate advertisers that their sites must contain products not sold on the merchant's site in order to be able to participate in AdWords? It's an unethical, unfair business practice.
A merchant's survival often times depends upon the sales generated by its affiliates. By denying affiliates from competing in the keyword bidding process with single-merchant websites, Google is choking off the sales force of thousands of companies and turning off the cash flow to the affiliates who, in the past, and like myself, successfully used AdWords. I instantly stopped making sales the day Google slapped me.
Yes, affiliates can use other PPC services, but none of them have the coverage that AdWords does.
Yes, affiliates can use search engine marketing to promote any product in any manner, but not everyone has the skill set and the tenacity to do it. Fortunately, in about three months' time I've managed to regain about 85% of my pre-Google slap using SEM, but it's hard, never ending work.
You see, the beauty of PPC is that it's "instant-on" advertising. You don't have to spend weeks or months trying to achieve top ranking in the SERPS, something that's impossible for highly competitive niches.
In my opinion, no white-hat advertiser should be denied running an honest PPC campaign because they chose to sell only products from a single merchant on their site. The competitive bidding process should be amongst the advertisers, not Google.
Since 2003, I've spent over $16,000 on AdWords. That's a grain of sand on the Google beach, but I can guarantee you, I won't be spending another $16,000 with them. Not when Google has turned into a gang banging thug, killing off affiliate marketers one by one.

Create a Google Profile to Expand Your Social Networking Spiderweb - An Ad Domination Tip
Creating a Google profile on is a great approach to market yourself, your product and get your identify out on the web. Profiles are also being awarded very good placement in the SEO rankings. As a result it is important it for you to write one up if you are striving to obtain "top rankings" for your destination site.
A Google's profile is precisely what it says: A personal profile on Google which appears when someone completes a Google web search of your name or business - it lets you to present to others more information as regards to who you are and what you are all about. My opinion: Produce one right away to ensure you're appropriately displayed on the Internet. It is an exceptional, "low cost SEO" approach that many "SEO experts" employ.
Google profiles are public and contain fundamental data about yourself: a nickname (your real name is displayed solely to your own contacts), your profession, your address, a list of your weblinks to other sites, a photograph and a short "about me" or bio description.
To start with, you can add a photograph of yourself so folks that see your Google profile have a face they can associate to. A profile additionally lets people send you e-mail (but does not furnish them your electronic mail address - pleasant bit of privacy safety there), peruse your "about me", acquire contact info (that which you care to give), and look at any weblinks you care to share. Moreover, Google now displays search engine results in a their search results page so your name will display in web search results. By creating a profile on Google, you can establish a claim to name or business in search results and, hopefully, drive web searchers to the actual you.
Writing a Google profile is simple:
(I also prepared a video of this and you can go to my YouTube channel and search for marvkschwartz1)
1. Go to Google Profiles (just do a query on "Google profiles" in your Google search bar), after that click on the correct search listing, and then click on 'Create my profile on Google' on the Google profile starting web page.
2. If you previously had a Google username, sign in. If you don't, you will need to create one before you can go on.
3. Enter in as much info as you can; like where you grew up, your name, etc. The more information you enter the more attention-grabbing you will be to people looking at your profile.
4. Google profile Picture - A key to a decent Google profile is a first-rate photo of you so people know who they are reading about when they get to your Google profile. So upload a photograph of yourself since everybody wishes to view a photo when they are reading a profile on Google.
5. Make a short biography concerning you (and your company). Make it compelling, and professional. Bear in mind, prospective employers may look at your Google profile so be cautious what you say.
6. What Do You Provide - Do you have a network marketing or personal business? If you promote some sort of product or service, your Google profile is a good place to promote it.
7. Key Words - What do you do all the time and what business do you want to promote? These become your key terms. Type in your keywords into your Bio and backlink them back to the site or blog you are marketing.
8. Custom Links - Google's Profiles allows you to let you input all your principal weblinks. If you have a sales or website, blogs or a social networking site like LinkedIn, Ning or Ping.fm, you should add all of them into your profile on Google. Including weblinks to your additional sites on your profile is also beneficial for the other sites since it will give each of them a SEO increase.
9. Business Photos - In this section you can have your photos from Picasa display. If you have a product offering this is a great spot to show images of your services (if for instance you sell art or remodelling service, etc.).
10. Contact Info - I think this is self descriptive.
11. Profile on Google URL - On the very bottom is a space to choose your profile URL. Make sure to use a name so your profile on Google name will be identifiable (and better for search). The name you select will be what visitors will see at the top of your browser bar in addition to what they see in search engines.
12. In conclusion, Click on "Create a Google Profile".
As I mentioned earlier, Writing up a Google profile is one exceptionally "low cost seo" method which extremely few "SEO experts" even are aware of, but now you do. You may view my sample profile at http://www.google.com/profiles/markvschwartz.
Establishing a Google profile provides a simple way for you to promote your business. Your profile is one additional tool you possess to meet people, link up on the web and enhance the ways that people locate you on the Internet. Ultimately, you have everything to gain by creating up your own profile as a piece of your "social networking spider web" and overall online promotion.

Creating Google Gadgets
Google gadgets are small modules of functionality (e.g. a clock, a game, etc.) that can be added to Blogger blogs, Google's personalized iGoogle pages, and other places on the web. You can even add them to your own website. Most users of Blogger are familiar with at least three of these objects. The default list of Blogger templates automatically come with Followers, Blog Archive, and About Me gadgets installed. The Followers gadget allows people to connect themselves to blogs by signing on as followers. The Blog Archive gadget displays old blog posts. The About Me gadget displays a blogger's profile.
There are hundreds of thousands of gadgets that have been developed and made publicly available. Google has a directory of gadgets that can be added to your Blogger site or to a website hosted outside of Blogger. It's obvious that Google promotes the development of new gadgets. They have even developed an extensive programming interface to allow independent web developers to tap in to their system.
What is a Google Gadget?
Google gadgets are made up ultimately of an XML file, which gives instructions to Google regarding the configuration of your gadget. To submit a gadget to Google, you simply enter the URL of the location where your gadget XML file exists and click submit. Google finds your gadget, verifies that it works correctly, and then adds your gadget to its database so that it can be presented to millions of gadget users across the Internet.
Gadgets can be as simple as a line of text, as in the following "Hello, world" example:
On the other hand, gadgets can be complicated pieces of JavaScript code that run Flash applications and interact with databases. The complexity of your gadget determines to some extent its usefulness. Depending upon your intentions for developing a gadget, you may need to improve your JavaScript, Flash, and other programming skills. If you create an appealing gadget and submit it to be included in Google's directory, it could mean a lot of traffic for your website.
Google publishes a fair amount of technical information to help gadget developers. You can read more information about developing gadgets at Google's gadget page: http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/

Factors that Influence the Indexing Speed of a Website in Google
Now a days Internet marketing is a big boom among young IT professionals. Everyone starts their Internet marketing career by starting a website or blog and expecting visitors to it. Among them around 80 percent will not add content to their website or blog after a few weeks and gradually forget the blog address itself. In the rest of the 20 percent, only a half knows adding content itself is not enough to boost their website in Google. Though they realize there are some other factors which influence the promotion of a website in Google, most of them will not bother to do so. This is because they think promotional steps are so tough to follow and it is worthless in wasting time and money in promoting their website. In reality website promotion is very simple and interesting if they follow the some simple steps.
Indexing the website in Search Engines is the first step in promoting a website. Normally Google spiders will find the home page of a website after few days and index them. We have an option to submit our website URL in Google, Yahoo and other major search engines but it takes a long time to trigger Search Engine spiders. This may take one day to even months for discovering the new website by Google spiders and no one can guaranty whether it will be indexed or not. Though we cannot control the behavior of Google spiders there are some factors which influence the speed of discovery by them. They are:
1. Links pointing to the new website
2. Sitemap submission in Google webmaster tools
3. Frequency of content update
Most important point which increases the speed of website indexing is the presence of inbound links to our new website. Inbound links are the links pointing to our website from other websites. When Google spiders visit the source website they will follow the link pointing to our website. Once Google spiders discover our website, it will be indexed soon in their database. So if you need to index your website in Google in short period of time it is advised to create links to your website from multiple relevant websites. For indexing purpose you can take the advantage of social book marking websites like Digg, Mixx etc. Google spiders are always visiting those website and they will follow the links shown in their site. Another Good choice is participating similar topic forums and leave a link to your website from it.
Another method to index your website in Google is registering your website in Google webmaster tools and verify the ownership of your website. After verifying the ownership of your website in webmaster tools you can submit your sitemap. Google spiders will read the links written in sitemap and visit our website. Sitemap is an XML file with a list of all URLs present in your website. It is a good practice to create XML sitemap for your new and already existing websites. It will increase the transparency of your website in Google.
Last point I need to say is the frequency of content update. If you follow a fixed frequency in posting new articles in your website, it will result a fast indexing in Google. If you are a professional blogger it is very important to keep a fixed time period to post new article.

Five Steps to Profit from Google Adwords
Although I was marketing online since 1997 and was making
money on the Internet, as soon as I discovered the famous
GoogleCash ebook I was instantly hooked. It seemed so easy
to profit from Google Adwords: just join an affiliate
program, promote it on Google Adwords pay per click (ppc)
search engine starting from only five dollars, and watch
your profits soar...
However, soon I realized that it was not that simple. You
must know how to select profitable affiliate programs, how
to research keywords and group them in ad groups, how to
bid and manage your campaigns, how to track your keywords
and ads, etc.
The subject was very interesting for me and I just kept
reading a great deal of information related to making
income with Google Adwords: ebooks, guides, tutorials and
e-mail courses.
After trying to implement the knowledge gained in
practice, after long trial and error months, I was finally
making profit and not losing my money.
Here are five little-known steps that you should take in
order to profit from Goolge Adwords:
1. Target profitable two-tier or residual income niche markets.
2. Use effective tools and software for your Google Adwords keyword research.
3. Get a domain name, a hosting account, and create a simple landing page with an opt-in form.
4. Promote your landing page with Google Adwords and capture your visitors' e-mail addresses.
5. Follow up with your subscribers and profit by pre-selling your niche products or services.
Let's quickly analyze each of the steps outlined above and
see why you should stick to the plan if you want to
maximize your income from Google Adwords.
Promote Profitable Niche Two Tier Or Residual Income
Products And Services
First, the products or services that you will promote with
Google Adwords should target a niche where people have lots
of money and are willing to spend it.
Second, you can make much more money if you advertise
two-tier or residual income products or services.
Usually, majority of Google Adwords books teach you to
choose an affiliate program from publisher networks like
ClickBank, Commission Junction, LinkShare, etc. But these
are the programs that everybody use. So, try to do a
research on two-tier or residual income programs in your
target niche, and you may be surprised with the results...
Two-tier programs reward you for signing up affiliates.
This way you earn commissions not only on your sales, you
earn commissions on their sales too.
A good example of residual income programs are web hosting
affiliate programs where you can profit from your sales
lifelong!
Use Effective Tools for Your Google Adwords Keyword Research
First, did you know that you can spy on your competitors
keywords by using an amazing tool called GoogSpy:
http://www.googspy.com
Simply, enter a domain name of your direct competitors and
see what keywords they are bidding on. This little-known
secret could make your online profits soar instantly.
Second, as you probably know, the competition among
advertisers in ppc marketing is fierce. That's why you
should avoid using only free keyword research tools like
Overture's Keyword Selector:
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion
You will miss lots of profitable keywords if you do so. To
succeed with ppc the only tool that works is WordTracker:
http://www.adwords-revealed.com/wordtracker
You should take at least a one day's subscription when you
are ready for your keyword research.
Get a Domain name, a Hosting Account, and Create a Simple
Landing Page
If you don't have your own web site for your niche product
or service that you advertise with ppc search engines, you
are leaving money on the table. Here's why...
Capture Your Google Adwords Visitors' E-mail Addresses
Yes, you can promote affiliate links directly with Google
Adwords. However, this way you will lose lots of prospects
that could be contacted later.
Picture this...
When you promote an affiliate link you drive traffic
directly to your affiliate web site. If a visitor doesn't
purchase the product or service immediately, the chances
are he or she will never purchase from your affiliate link
again.
Of course, top affiliate programs place cookies on their
web site visitors' browsers. This way you get paid even if
your referral returns to your affiliate web site later.
That's why it is important to select the best affiliate
programs from the beginning.
If you can achieve 1% visitor to sales conversion ratio
(it means 1 sale from 100 visitors) with Google Adwords -
you have a winner!
Imagine... What if you could set up a simple opt-in form
on your landing page and write a great copy encouraging
your visitors to subscribe to your newsletter or an e-mail
course? You would enjoy not 1% but 20 - 30% visitor to
subscriber conversion ratio when driving targeted traffic
to your web site with Google Adwords!
You see, when you capture email addresses, you build a
list. And, as they say - money is in the list!
Follow Up With Your Subscribers and Pre-Sell Your Products
and Services
This step is where you make real profit. Simply, create
quality targeted content in your newsletter or ecourse and
follow up with your prospects using autoresponders.
It is said that online products and services are sold
after 7 - 9 follow up messages. Besides, you can contact
your subscribers anytime later as new quality products hit
your targeted niche market.
This simple surefire action plan should help you boost
your homebased Google Adwords business profit instantly. As
you can see, without a web site you cannot profit as much
as you could by simply creating a one-page website.

Free Google Promotional Opportunities For Small Businesses
When some people see the Maps tab at Google.com they assume that it is just Google's version of Mapquest or some other similar website. But nothing could be further than the truth. True, Google displays maps and driving directions but it also does so much more.
Google Maps was previously called Google Local Search which more accurately describes Google Map functionality. Google Maps has a listing of every established business. Obviously it shows the location of the business on the map and offers driving directions. But it also offers tremendous promotional opportunities. Business owners can include both photos and videos in their map listing. Being able to include up to 10 photos and 5 videos makes the Google Map listing a bonanza for the business owner and provides rich information to potential customers. A picture can be extremely useful showing critical information to a potential customer. If somebody was looking for a daycare center think how valuable it would be to have pictures of the facility both inside and outside. This is almost better than a full page advertisement in the Yellow pages except the Google map listing is free. Compare that to a full page ad in other media.
Google also offers a business owner an opportunity to post up to 5 videos. This is almost like getting a free TV commercial except that the information is directed at a potential customers who are already interested in the business owner's product or services. With today's inexpensive video equipment a business owner could shoot their own video of the business and post it to their Google Map listing via YouTube. With shrinking advertising budgets businesses should fully utilize this opportunity from Google. The only caveat is that for the business listing to be completely effective the business listing should be on the first page of Google search results. Fortunately it is rather easy to optimize Google Map listings.
Is your Google Map Listing in the top ten search results? It could be. We can help.

Getting Found On Google
If you think getting your html/text pages indexed in Google or buying pay per click ads pointing to text-based web pages are the only ways to get found on Google, your competitors could be eating your lunch - or more to the point, serving lunch to customers that could have been yours. What's up?
Google Coupons:
For starters, Google is now giving local merchants the chance to put coupons online. To do so, you need to first create a free business listing in Google Maps. Once that's completed, you can click on the Coupons tab to enter the text for your coupon. Coupons will show up when searchers search Google Maps for your products in your location. (ie, restaurant, Manhattan, NY.
Google Video:
Another way to get found: Google Video. That's taken the place of Froogle (Google's shopping comparison search) on the Google home page. (Froogle is now found under the "more" link off the home page.)
Google Video gives businesses (entertainers, and others, too) a way to get their videos seen either free, or by selling video content on Google. For information on uploading and selling video content on Google, see the Google Video Help Center.
Google Sitemap:
The nice thing about this type of sitemap is that it can be read by humans AND search engines. Website owners simply use our program to generate an HTML sitemap, upload that file to their server's root directory (same location as the website's main page) and place a link to the file in their footer. Get your Free Google Sitemap and save the XML file.

Google - Does Anyone REALLY Know
The problem we have faced is simple! If we ask five accountants how to do something connected to the business we get one answer. If we ask our bank about a problem we have, we can expect generally the same advice (albeit through different avenues). But ask five seo (search engine optimisation) companies how we can get to page one of Google for our keywords of promotional merchandise, promotional products and corporate gifts and we get 5 different answers!
So, we ask the question...does anyone really know how Google operates and what a company needs to get on page one?
Initially, we were advised that it's all about links. The more outbound and inbound links you have, the higher up the rankings you will go. We were contacted by a multitude of companies who offered to generate hundreds of links for us in a very short period of time. But it transpires that Google will actually penalise you for this as it sees it as a form of spamming. Now we have begun to understand that it's not quantity, its quality. This second strand of advice is that Google still looks for links but rates them on the relevance to your site. So if we have a link from (for example) a business forum this is relevant but if it's from a pet store in Arizona...well, it's not!
So what's changed? Has Google changed the way that it works? And our some companies more 'in the know' than others? It's possible of course. But then we get told it's all about social media now. Blogs, blogs and more blogs!
Is Google that flexible that it can change fundamentally how websites are ranked? I don't think so. After all, something keeps the same companies on page one for a search against the keyword 'promotional merchandise'. We suspect it's a mixture of practices...hence why we have been creeping up the page rankings.
In a nutshell, if you need SEO support...ask around and don't go with any company that guarantees a page one ranking!

Google AdWords How To Save Up to 50% On Your Google Ad Spending
Google does not want you to know these tips on how to save money on AdWords. But, they are easy to use and they can save you up to 50% on your ad spending.
Warning: 97% of businesses fail to get results on Google AdWords
I have been in advertising for over 30 years and I do not know of any other advertising medium that consistently fails at such a high level for advertisers. This is a miserable record of failure reported in Entrepreneur Magazine's book, "Ultimate Guide to Pay Per Click Advertising by Richard Stokes." Of course, Google promotes their successes and not all those failures. Regardless, it is a warning that the money you spend on AdWords is more than likely going to be a complete waste.
Before you invest in Google AdWords, here are two key tips:
1. If you are selling a low-priced item on Google, it will be incredibly difficult to get a positive return on your investment. The reason is that your price or cost per click will be too high.
2. If you are trying to create awareness of a problem, do not use Google AdWords. Think about the mindset of your prospect. An AdWords ad must connect with an accepted belief the prospect has about that topic; specifically a problem he or she wants solved. Ideally, your ad will connect to that prospect by providing the solution. If the prospect does not believe he has that problem you are solving, your ad will not make a connection.
Once you decide to invest in Google AdWords, here are four more key tips:
1. Do not pay for keywords where your business organically appears on Page 1.
After you have created a list of keywords, do a Google search on each one. If your business appears on Page 1 of these search results, you do not need to pay money for that keyword. People use search to find organic results not ads. If your business is listed organically, do not waste money on AdWords.
2. Only use the Google search network when setting up your campaign.
You want to give your business the best opportunity for success. If you can not get a positive return from a pure Google search campaign, the likelihood of achieving a positive return on these other networks is diminished. There are tricks to make these other networks work, but it takes a lot more time and effort..and still may not payout.
3. Phrase and exact keyword matching have significantly more value than broad matches.
Broad keywords are entered into Google AdWords without any punctuation and allows for the words to match in any order, for plurals and for synonyms. Phrase keywords are enclosed by quotation marks so that phrase must match to a search. Exact keywords are enclosed using square brackets and only get matched when people search for those specific words.
Phrase and exact keywords will have less traffic but better click through rates. This means you need to closely monitor your broad keywords as they will eat up your budget quickly. One method of slowing this spend down is to reduce the price for broad keyword to be one half of the AdWords suggested price to be on Page 1.
4. Negative keyword matching is critical in setting up your account.
At the bottom of the AdWords keyword page you will find the words "Negative Keywords." Negative keywords allow you to eliminate words that you do not want to include in your matching. For example, words like "free," "templates," and "keywords" are common negative keywords.
Reality Bites
There is the famous quote: "Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half."
When you start testing Google AdWords, you will only wish that only half your advertising is being wasted. In fact, it is a sad reality that 100% of your spend on Google AdWords will be wasted.
One alternative to consider is using mobile advertising since the cost per click is significantly less expensive. For perspective, you can buy mobile ads for as low as 5 cents per click! Google owns that space as well, with AdMob. While it is similar to AdWords, it is a whole new ballgame to master.

Google Blog Search What You Should Know
Google is moving in so many directions, it can be somewhat
difficult to keep track of all the services and tools
offered by this premium search engine. For the seasoned
webmaster as well as the ordinary surfer, keeping a clear
picture of what Google is offering is sometimes a little
overwhelming.
Recently, there has been a deluge of new products from
Google. If you hit the 'more' button on the Google Home
page, you will see a smattering of Google services and
tools. Including Desktop 2, Print, Maps, Google Earth...
you can even search and browse mail-order catalogs.
Now comes Blog Search - where Internet users can now
search blogs for their information. This is a welcomed
service, especially for bloggers. Google's embracing of
blogs started with the purchase of Blogger.com and got
sidetracked with the 'costly' argument over which
syndication standard to use. Most favored RSS while
Google promoted the Atom standard for its blog feeds.
Blogs are online journals where ordinary people give
opinions, information and links on topics that matter
to them. These topics can be anything under the
sun: from politics to needlepoint to corporate blogs
to your local school's basketball team. Blogs give a
real insight into what ordinary surfers believe and feel
about a subject.
It's an instant snapshot of our world in words and pictures
-- but mostly words.
Blogs are often associated with RSS because RSS is
the syndication standard that sends out the blog's content
in little snippets to all interested parties. Subscribers
to these blogs can read these headlines in News Readers or
Aggregators and then click on the links to get more
information. Keep in mind, the original acronym for
RSS is 'Rich Site Summary', but that meaning has been
somewhat replaced by the major benefit of RSS which
is 'Really Simple Syndication'.
Many browsers are now coming with an RSS reader already
built-in, such as the popular Mozilla's Firefox browser.
Microsoft's new Longhorn version of Windows will have
RSS built into its operating system.
Recently Google has embraced RSS in its Desktop 2 program
and in the XML powered Google Sitemaps. Now comes Blog
Search, a way to search all the information in these blogs.
In the past, most bloggers have used the Technorati site
to search blogs as well as RSS search offered by MSN and
Yahoo.
Some things you should know about Google Blog Search:
1. How to access it? You can use the blog Search site
http://www.blogsearch.google.com or http://www.search.blogger.com
You may also use the Navigational Bar on any BlogSpot
blog, plus you will also be able to access it from your
Blogger Dashboard. The Blogger Navbar gives you the option
of searching within the current blog or searching all blogs.
Major criticism -- Google has not placed a link on its
home (front) page of Google search; as blogs and blogging
becomes even more popular maybe this error will be fixed.
2. Who's included? It should be noted that Google will index
all blogs using a site feed (RSS or Atom) and you can get
your Blog indexed just by using an automatic pinging service
offered by such sites as http://www.weblogs.com
Please Note -- Your older posts may not be present in search
results, Google started indexing feeds around June, 2005.
Older posts may be included at a later date.
3. What search operators or query words are supported? You can
use these standard Google Search modifiers and Google will
restrict your results -- link:, site:, intitle: plus new
ones for Blog Search -- inblogtitle:, inposttitle:,
inpostauthor:, and blogurl:
4. Can I subscribe to search results? Yes, just use the News
Aggregator of your choice and subscribe to the feeds at
the bottom of the results page, then you can be automatically
updated as new posts come online.
5. Can I use Safesearch? Yes, Google lets you filter out any
unwanted sites.

Blog Search is a great extension to the Google Search Empire,
it will give surfers access to a greater range of material.
No doubt, this is not the end of what Google has to offer to
its loyal followers. Persistent speculation and rumors abound,
it just won't go away, rumors that Google is NOT only designing
its own browser (it owns the domain gbrowser.com) but its own
operating system.
But why stop there -- if you're dreaming of the perfect
search -- you must go further. Google must go further!
And since we're dreaming...
How about a Google delivered Instant Search embedded in a
Google RSS Powered Operating System on a Google designed
ultra-portable notebook computer with a wireless cell phone
modem, accessible anywhere in the world...
...wake me up when it arrives!

Google Like
Long ago, Google was introduced as an online search engine equipped to supply different information concerning many entities from personal issues to public sentiments. Today, Google has flourished into one of the most successful websites that has been thoroughly utilized by people.
To further serve all Google users, developers have established and integrated a lot of applications just to improve the features that have made Google, up to this date, a leading online site. Part of the numerous applications includes the Google Like.
What is Google Like?
Just like the Facebook Like button, Google Like icon functions by showing the person's preference to the signed up social network; hence, informing and advertising products, items, pictures, and notes. Specifically, it is a form of promotional information linking a certain advertisement from the third person to the direct consumer.
For example, a person is visiting an online store selling bags. After surfing its page, the same person finds a traveling bag enticing. Without hesitation, the share button is clicked and it is immediately presented on the person's social media ready to be viewed by others. Written in the page are the traveling bag's detailed description, price, size, quality, web address, and brand. Since it is being promoted on the person's wall, others will check the item linking them back to the website of the bag; therefore, enhancing traffic to site, popularity, and even improvement of online purchase.
By clicking the Google Like, others will see the merchandise in one's page. Once others find it of their liking, they, too, will present it on their own pages. This way, the popularity of product accelerates.
Promotional campaign
Google Like is not just a one-way income influx. It is created to improve the sales of businesses while helping individuals earn from it. Simply by advertising commercial campaigns on one's own social network page, any form of purchase allows a small percentage of monetary earning from the business owner to the page advertiser since it is considered as a paid link or endorsement. More so, social networks receive revenues on every product promoted and sold that was depicted in their own sites.
Through this Google-patented application, a win-win approach is ensured. Everyone receives profits starting from the third person advertiser, the social media owners, to the company sellers.
Google Like, also, presents consumers variety of products to select from, therefore, guaranteeing that the item procured by the costumers is of their personal discretion. In having many choices, the consumers are not limited to single purchase only but are welcome to buy as many products as possible allowing advertisers to profit as much as the costumers are buying.
Google Like The hype of e commerce
Websites, undeniably, have hastily multiplied like mushrooms. This is due to the increasing number of individuals hooked on the internet. Because of this trend, many businesses have found an avenue to promote their items at a global scale. Everyone is capable of opening their own store through the internet and everyone is qualified to advertise other people's business.
By launching an online business, the Google Like button helps people notice one's industry. The sale is directly proportional to the number of people publicizing the site. Through promoting an online store, the advertiser earns incentives in every product sold by using Google Like.
This is the beauty of e commerce. Every person has the opportunity to use internet in order to generate money; may it be full-time or in part-time.
In conclusion, Google Like application is an indispensable key in generating funds online. No money is necessary to start this type of advertisement, it only entails time and diligence in promoting products to people; may it be one's family, friends, acquaintances, or even strangers. By the looks of it, Google Like will always retain as Google button ready to be utilized by anybody.

Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature - Effect on SEO
Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature; Is it a death-knell on all established SEO techniques? What is it's apparent effect on Search engine optimization? How is it going to affect the SERPs (results page)? A colossal change has just been made by big G. Google could not have gotten better at what it does. It revolutionized the search engine all over again.
To the makers of Google, it is nothing short of the fairy-tale crystal ball where they can see everything happening around in the universe. Everyone online is sort of an open book to Google whether you want it or not. And just when you thought that Google already knows too much about people; about what they thought, what they dreamed, what they pursued, what they shopped, what they searched, Google comes up with another milestone idea to get people even more personal; the ability to promote, remove search results by every individual on the planet and add unique comments to any of your preferred result. Wow, so what if you decide to promote a website from 50th page to 1st page. And let's say you demote a top ranking result into oblivion, never to be seen on the 1st page again. So in one click did you just kill the hype and hoopla of search engine optimization?
Because the best of optimized pages could literally be gone out of your sight with this tool if you decided to have it so. And if it is really so, then this is the END OF THE WORLD. Is it the END of conventional SEO? Do i hear a pin-drop silence?
No need to panic yet. If you see the buttons then you must have noticed that they appear only when you are logged in to your Google account, and the reprise is that they only affect the results that you see, not what the world does. Do i hear a sigh of relief? If you want to skip my detailed analysis and description of this feature, you may straightaway read the conclusion at the bottom.
How does Google promote/remove actually work? A specific example.
To check the same, simply log in to your account, let's say you do a Google search for the keyword phrase "webkinz dollar store", and click on the promote button next to a result in a subsequent page. You will immediately see it magically go to the topmost SERP in the 1st page. If you click on 'promote' for another "webkinz dollar store" search result, it will move into the second place on the 1st page itself. You can move the second web page to the first position by clicking "promote" on it again. Now Log out and search again for the same keyword, you will see your selected pages dropping back to its original ranking position. Login again and you will notice your chosen pages are back to your promoted order. If you click remove on any of your promoted website, it will return to its previous place in your Google search results. But If you click remove randomly on any un-promoted website, it will be permanently removed from any results. Of course you can get it back to the search results by clicking on restore at the bottom. The results are associated with your Google account only so they will be constant across any computes of you account logs.
At first instance it is bound to give the webmasters a cold feet with the thought that Google has handed over the fate of search engine results to people and everything about SEO goes to the dumps. It convincingly looks like, as if now people are to alter, improvise the worldwide top results for each search term. But it certainly isn't the case. It's only for your own Google account, for your own personalized result page order. And it is important to know that every new search term will have entirely different promoted and removed results than the other.
I'm sure even the biggest of SEO experts, guides and critics must have lost their nerve for a second with their first experience with Google promote and remove feature just as much as I did. So the big question still remains, is this the end of our struggle and success with SEO? Is it really all up to searchers and surfers to decide the ranks of our web pages? Are we supposed to watch helplessly all the big and popular web pages get to the top, while the smaller ones vanishing away? Thank the stars that it isn't the case.
What is Google promote / remove system called?
It's called SearchWiki. SearchWiki lets users have their own order of promoted and removed results, and leave comments on specific links. Google thus remembers changes that are made by the account holder to the organic search results pages, and subsequent searches will then be displayed as per the user's customisations and notes. And most importantly, users will also have the option of seeing how other searchers have rated and reordered search results and view their notes as well, making search results a innovative community based initiative.
Who does searchwiki help?
In course of time, it will surely make a huge impact on how SEO affects a site in my opinion. Prior to this feature, a webmaster was the only individual who had an influence on the SEO aspects but now each and every Google user has the ability to decide where that site should be listed, making search engine results a different concept altogether. It may even revolutionize the idea or existing technology like browser bookmarks and RSS readership.
Customized search result page? Is it happening?
The way it stands now, it isn't a possibility e.g., a specific page could be pushed to the top result for everyone just by getting shoppers or enthusiasts to 'promote' that site a million times. Neither can your competitors outrank your site by clicking on removal link a thousand times.
Yes, you can now customize your search results with the organic rankings, deletions, leave notes against each page for future reference and see how other Google users have tailored their searches. SearchWiki notes will be visible to other users, identified with your Google Account nickname.
What are the implications of Google searchwiki on SEO?
It is like an alarm bell for everyone to straighten up their act, specially thin affiliate sites, spammers or the ones resorting to black hat stuff. Yes sooner or later there will hardly be a scope for anyone to deviate even by an inch from the core of search engine fundamentals. That is relevance and accuracy.
Yes, many things will be affected from sales to delivery and reporting. SEO won't be dead but it will have evolved and more oriented towards content than techniques .
Google has been remarkable in preventing spam and this new tool on the prima-facie would not only generate more direct data for Google analysis but would also also initiate a mass spam removal movement worldwide. As far as promoted and removed data is concerned, Google obviously is wary of SEO masters using proxy servers running multiple alias sites and redirect pages and unethical methods that can easily used to promote a single page. Hence they will never make a mistake of simply considering all the votes gained for a page to it's ranking algorithm for organic searches without due verification. All of this will give Google a whole new perspective to search user habit and patterns by allowing the user to mix and alter the organic results itself. Unthinkable but true that it is already happening.
What if Google decides to apply the promotional and removal data to page ranks? Dooms day?
Top 10 ranking results will be flooded with the sites that the majority of people prefer. The hottest and most popular existing pages will fill up the top slots overnight, for every imaginable keyword search phrase. The scope for newer, smaller, unpopular websites will virtually perish with no place in the top noticeable positions. As a result it will hardly ever gain a promotion. And slowly it will stand as good as removed even if it is not.
It might be great to force people to look at the most popular websites, but the small ones which are less marketed or are comparatively of less value or quality will never stand a chance. Lesser traffic can never be the final diagnostic indicator.
But look at this from the perspective of a person who's looking to find something out. If I need to learn about the "webkinz dollar store", I don't frankly care whether that comes from a small blog or a an unknown forum page, as long as I find the info I need, and its reliable. And I can always find them right where i need from anywhere in the world.
For those concerned about SEO.
The agony or the anxiety about it's effect on SEO and rankings could be erased in a second just by reminding ourselves of the one and only governing factor about search engines, that their existence itself depends and will always be on it's ability to offer accurate and relevant information to the users and not anybody else. Even searchwiki, this new Google tool is intended with no other intent but relevance. Isn't it so common find relevant content even after page 10 at times? ( I don't know about you, but I do search deep when I need information ). In such a case one would either bookmark that page or copy the content for future reference. I always sympathize with quality web pages nowhere near to the top ranking positions. That proves that just great content alone can not guarantee top ten results. A multitude of factors like SEO, backlinks, sandbox are responsible to drive a page to the top. And the process itself is slow.
Relevance will now be "of the search (Google), by the search (Google) and for the search (Google)." Sounds quite like a democratic definition of a search engine.
Not so long ago when webmasters saw the immense potential in harnessing people's bookmarking habits, the craze of social bookmarking sites diggs, del.ico.us erupted overnight giving search relevance a completely relative meaning.
Things will now change. What better to bookmark a page from within the searches in just one click with no further accounts to log in to.
Backlinks and quality links are still the driving forces behind a websites rise or fall. It is equated as votes earned from other sites. As far as Google's stand point is concerned, a natural promotion of a webpage from different un-suspicious IP addresses can count as votes of relevance for a search phrase.
Scientists are maybe still trying to unify the forces of nature into one formulae, but looks like Google almost successfully unified the world.
Welcome to Google monopoly. Look how it gets bigger by the day.
One Account: Where your world converges.
(Oh if you haven't got a Google account yet. You will be compelled to have one sooner or later)
One Search Engine: The keyword manufacturing unit. Keyword demand supply chain. Unlimited Manpower at work for the biggest keyword market. From where internet business and ecommerce are governed.
One Search Tool (External keywords tool) : Manufactured keywords put on window display. Who does have a better authority to declare than Google itself, about what people are exactly searching for? Take it or leave it.
One Traffic Estimator: (Google lets you judge the cost of your keyword too) Window shopping for keywords.
One AdWords: Ok so interested parties can shop for keywords from the keyword store.
One AdSense: Auctioned keywords recycled back to the people (searcher) working in the keyword factory.
One Webmaster Tools: The manufacturers of keyword money are now the safekeepers of all your keyword rich belongings.
One Analytics: Realtime live tv telecasting keyword news to keep the buyers and sellers interested.
One Web history: Refined fuel for the keyword engine machinery. Everyone's web habit and online track records are well kept with Google. They exactly know geo-specific, cultural specific keyword needs. Well who better to assign a price-tag to a keyword up for auction?
One Homepage (iGoogle): If all these have become second nature to you, then iGoogle is the way to stay hooked. You will get a handful on your finger tips.
And Now Google searchwiki: Google taking control of what you thought is best for you.
It is like, you have helped manufacture some great and moderate keywords so far, so why don't you manufacture some great result pages with your click votes too. After all there are a free gazillion keyword workers (search engine users) in the factory (Google) at any given point in time. Keep working a bit extra and Google shall know what exactly the gazillion wants to see or not see. The fairytale crystal ball is for real now.
Where do you stand? Your best kept secrets are the best resources to the Google rulers. Google knows what buyers want, what sells most. Google knows what sellers want, what buyers are willing to pay, how much are they willing to pay for, where do best buyers come from and the sellers too. The world wide web is not so entangled for the big G anymore. They conquered the world faster than Alexander.
Everyone's Top 10 Pages will look different for the same search phrase. Scary to even think about it.
Google has gotten perfect at eradicating it's imperfections. And if you thought you had a reason to point a finger at them due to erroneous relevant results, they gave the baton to you to improvise. Google may use 20 million algorithms in a millisecond to offer what is relevant. But now they will have a gazillion more from an entire planet to vote for and review their own definition of relevant searches.
Conclusion.
What are the future projections and it's impact on SEO practices?
1. Analysis of top ten projections and reporting is likely to change based on a world consensus.
2. The definitions for pagerank and rankings for single phrases and e-commerce variables could change. If a considerable number of people are not seeing a particular result in the first pages because they have it custom configured for a particular phrase with pre-selected results crowding the top, then definitely there would be lesser click-throughs as even the top sites will be pushed back further. Thus resulting in lesser visitor count for subsequent pages and affecting pagerank algorithms.
3. Marketers and SEO experts will have to look at a bigger picture than being obsessed with pagerank and rankings for single phrases.
4. Google AdWords will become more eminent as an assured method for topping the results with paid rankings, even if the user's result page is highly customized. This means more revenues for Google.
5. When everyone starts to promote their favorite sites, the quality of content will definitely become even more undeniable (as it should be), and "classic" SEO techniques will need a complete re-orientation.
6. Marketers and SEO industry now thriving on Google, will be more proactive on Yahoo, Quil etc as alternative options.
7. Since this feature is only for Google user accounts. As of now the page rank and result pages outside logged Google accounts will very much be based on the organic SERPs. Especially given the fact that yahoo still owns more account user bases than Google. But eventually they will dominate even more with search engine market share, because of their unlimited customizable features.
8. As this Search Wiki tweak can be highly prone to spams, we won't really see any sea change in the PR status radically soon until the rest of the planet not on Google account register and start using the feature.
9. Analytics will be even more laser focussed. Google will harness immense amount of personalized data and use them to improve relevance of results. You now will have to option to know your promotion vs removal ratio for every indexed page. You will soon know your popularity rank as much as your PR rank.
10. You will soon be presented with realtime reviews on your web pages moderated or not moderated by Google.
11. Websites with genuine content and relevance will now be a super must to even fair anywhere near.
12. SEO will spell "Authority pages" more than "Optimized pages".
13. Survival of the fittest will be the new Google theory.
14. All onsite testimonials and reviews on products, services often clinically engineered or manipulated will matter less because you will have realtime online reviews even before you land on that page. (Google comment feature = Realtime reviews)
Millions of webmasters and people must still be biting their nails, trying to figure out what is wrong or right with our big Google. How is it likely to affect the already established businesses, websites and SEO? But I hope this article gives you enough insight about our fate or growth on Google in near future.
Another search engine revolution has begun with Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature. Are you ready for the change?

Has Google Indexed Your Site
So has Google found your site yet?
Over the last 12 months Google has undergone many
changes to the way it looks at and lists your site.
This week sees another upgrade in Google.
As any search engine or member of the public will
tell you, Google or any other search engine MUST
provide the most relevant listings for a search query.
One of the major changes that Google is implementing
is that it will not display more than one AdWords listings
for the same company Domain Name. At present they also
try to have only one listing (with a secondary) per website
domain displayed in the top search results.
This affects mainly affiliated member sites.
This also affects companies that provide a member program.
Say if you were using Google AdWords and there are
5 members from your company paying to use AdWords
only one listing will be displayed and this will be the
highest bid for that keyword.
In another words the average Joe Marketer will have
to pay a high price to have his AdWord listing displayed.
For Google and for the Google search user this provides
a more defined search. There will not be 5 AdWords placed
for the same company or merchant as has been the case in
the past.
With 3 or 4 AdWords for the same company displayed,
allowed a person who paid a bid of 50 cents to be displayed
at the bottom of the list while someone who could afford to
pay five dollars for the same keyword to have his link at the
top of the page. You stood a chance when your AdWord
was displayed, now you have to have the highest bid at
that particular time.
BUT, this is not an insurmountable problem. This is where
owning your own Domain name and web site is a must.
At present many search engines only allow one plus a secondary
listing for any one domain to be displayed in their top page or
two of their search results.
NOTE:
There is no easy way around not owning your own domain.
Getting your affiliated member site listed in a search engine
is becoming almost impossible, especially when you consider
that there are tens and even hundreds of thousands of other
members belonging to the same company, promoting their
member site too.
This can and will affect many companies as they rely on
their members to promote the companies site though
pay per click - AdWords and standard search engine listing.
With odds of one hundred thousand to one you have better
odds of winning the lotteries.
Once marketers understand the concept of creating their
own website, one of the next hurdles they face is the content
for their site. What so often happens is that they do not consider
themselves as copy writers, so they copy the content from their
member site. I have seen this many times where marketers
websites are almost exact copies of their companies site.
The definition of a search engine is to provide the most relevant
search results for a specific search.
Google are only trying to live up to this definition. So as they
are only allowing one AdWord display listing for any one company
or domain, Google are also only allowing one page with the exact
same content to be displayed.
If your web page is a duplicate of your companies page, then
your page is very likely to receive a duplicate content penalty
with Google.
In other words if your site has been indexed by Google and
they find your page to be an exact copy of another page, it is
highly likely your page will receive the penalty and not the
company site.
Remember that the Google Bot's are checking and indexing
around eight billion pages each month. It takes a very powerful
computer system to keep track of all those pages and the content
on those pages to return relevant searches. It doesn't take to
much brain power to realize that as Google indexes a page it
can also compare your page with the thousands that fit into
your product, service or information category.
It is generally thought that for a 1st offense your page will be
removed from their index for 30 days then for the 2nd offense
for 60 days then for a 3rd offense your page will be removed
for 90 days. After the 3rd offence you can forget about Google.
But it gets worse, if your page contains duplicate content
and Google spots it, for the time your page is cooling off
for 30 days it affects the rest of your site as you will no doubt
have many links in the site map etc, to the banned page so this
can and does affect your whole sites ranking.
The news is not all bad as anyone who has the ability to consider
marketing any product and is prepared to attempt creating a web
site, also has the ability to reword and rewrite the content from
their company site.
Most other pay per click search engines or ones that accept paid
inclusion like Overture already use similar policies that Google
is now implementing.
There are exceptions to the duplicate rule like RSS News feeds,
Directories, ezine article Directories and sites like Ebay and
Yahoo stores where these individual stores use the Yahoo
or eBay domain name.
Using good common sense, you should never have any problems
with Google or other search engines as you are promoting your
website as your own unique sales display.
Don't get me wrong Google is my first choice in Search Engines.
Google offers many f`ree tools for web masters.
You can find some of tools listed here.
http://www.google.com/help/features.html
If you to Google.com search, you can check the links to your Website.
(incoming links). Where I have [http://www.internet-income-index] in the
search box, you would type in your website domain.
Now if I can get 151 links back to my site without submitting
it to search engines, think what you can do...
Most Internet Marketers average between 20 and 50 links
using the Google links tool.
My point is if you add one link to your website in a single
Internet directory, Google and other search engines will
find you and your site just by following the link you placed
in that one directory.
If you check issue 103 of this ezine dated May 26 - 2004
Google only had 2 links to my ezine site listed.
I have placed a link on my other personally owned sites and
have added EzineArticles I have written in a couple of Ezine
Article Directories. You will find EzineArticles.com will be
listed above my site in a search for my ezine site as they are
a very high profile site.
The higher the profile or page rank Google gives any site that
you have your site link in, the higher Google is likely to rate your
site providing you have played by Googles rules.
Did you know that many search engines consider you have 2 sites
one with http;//www. in front of your domain and one with just the
http;//yourdomain.com plus if you have a sub-domain name like
[http://www.search.yourdomain.com] they treat this generally as
a different domain or website. The word search is the sub-domain
in this instance.
But it is far easier to promote just the one domain as opposed
to promoting 3 variations of the one domain name. I know
that from past experience after I listed it in the Dmoz.org Directory without "www."
http://VoipConference.info
with 21 incoming links
compared to 320 incoming links (without the www.)
"+voipconference.+info
TIP,
Domain Name Branding your website using a one off name
like Google or eBay is still best when it comes to search engine
marketing and for domain name recognition if you are prepared
to invest the time and money, but if your budget is limited then
using a domain name that describes your business or includes
keywords relating to your product or service is equally good.
May Google be kind to your site.
