Search Engine Optimization Why Is SEO Web Promotion Important

Search engine optimization is a long term that confused many internet marketers so they usually dismiss it and focus on some other area of internet marketing or the newest fad whether it is blogging, My Space, or podcasting.

While it is good to diversity your marketing efforts and to pay attention to new methods, search engine marketing has been around for a long time and it is not going anywhere. The simple fact is that some estimates report 85 percent of internet users utilize search engines to find what they want on the internet. That is why you cannot ignore search engine optimization.

Search engine optimization gets your site and its contents noticed by the search engines then ranked well for the keywords your target audience uses to search. The more visitors then the higher your revenue. That is a pretty simple formula for success.

So what is search engine optimization? Also known as SEO, search engine optimization simply means including recommended design and content elements to your web site, blog, and/or RSS feed to make it more attractive to search engines.

While the exact formulas that the top search engines use to calculate rankings are usually a closely guarded secret, there are search engine optimization experts who can point out some easy ways to optimize your site. And in fact, this optimization will only take a few minutes of your time and can achieve dramatic results after the next search engine spiders your site.

However before you can really begin to work on SEO then you need to determine the most effective keywords for your target audience. Once you have those keywords then you can incorporate them into your page title, headlines, content, and alt tags.

Search engine optimization is important because it is free, it is easy, it is targeted marketing, and it keeps on working even when you do not. You do not need to constantly monitor or fund SEO campaigns as they are self-sustaining once you set them into motion.

Article Promotion Secrets - Uncover 3 Quick, Easy Steps to Get Top 10 Search Rankings Results

If you create articles on a regular basis, you will generate traffic. Once you accept this phenomenon, then it will be time for you to increase the number of articles you produce on a daily basis. Then when you have created a schedule to produce regular articles, it will then be time for you to get your articles in the top 10 search engine rankings. When you achieve this, when your articles appear on the first page of any search result, you will be as pleased as punch.

You see, if your articles appear on page 1 of any of the search results, i.e. Yahoo!, MSN and Google, you will begin to notice a dramatic increase in traffic to your website. I hope you will be ready for this increase in traffic. More people will sign up to your subscribers list, more people will start to purchase your products and services, and you will have to stay ahead of the game by creating new and interesting products that these hungry subscribers are wanting.

So how do you go about getting your article in the top 10 search engine rankings? It is not that difficult.

1. Write press releases and submit them to the press release companies online. Writing a press release is not a difficult task as it may sound. If you have never created a press release, you may be daunted by the process, but for me, writing a press release is similar to writing articles. Once you have created a press release, submit it online to the press release companies. Some of them will ask for payment, and some of them will submit your press release free of charge.

2. You need to submit your website URL to as many online directories as you can. There are certain web directories that accept URLs, and this has a powerful impact on where your articles appear in the search engines. Type in URL directories in your browser and have a look at the list that is available. The more web directories you submit your URL to, the better it will be for your article.

3. Join as many forums as you can in your niche area. When you join these forums, read the comments and questions submitted by others. Answer those queries and comments, and leave your URL as your signature. Over time, people will be accustomed to seeing your signature and will link or click to your website to find out more information. Also, the more URLs you have on these forums, the higher your articles will appear in the search engines.

When you write articles for the process of generating traffic, it can create untold numbers of opportunities. But when you first experience your article in the top 10 search engine, you will be surprised and excited. Follow the above rules, and within a very short space of time, your articles will appear on the first page of a lot of search engine rankings.

Hot Site Promotion Tips for Search Engines

You may be wondering what exactly is promotion for search engines. Well it is marketing to put your site in a position that is favorable to search engine spiders. By doing this you gain a more favorable position in search engines that is reflected in your sites ranking and positioning. Many of the online companies that offer this service call it Search Engine Optimization and some of them do it very well. If you have the time and the knowledge you can do it yourself also.

When it comes to marketing web sites, one of the most talked about topics is Search Engine Optimization and here are some great tips on what you need to do to get your site noticed.

The first thing that you should look at is your sites content. It should contain your business information and informative content that is related to the niche that it serves. Pay attention and make sure that you use keywords occasionally throughout your sites content.

Use the right keywords in your content and meta tags to aid search engines in determining your sites content. By using the terms that are more often searched for you let the search engines know to send more traffic that relates to those keyword searches. Also make sure when you use keywords in the meta tags for a page that the content on the page relates to those meta tag keywords. The search engines will read both and when visitors arrive you want them to get the information they expect so they stay around your site longer.

Add new content regularly to your website so the search engine spiders frequently visit to get the latest postings. Keep the content related to the niche you serve with articles, reviews and other information that relates. Search engines absolutely love new and fresh content. Keep the quality of the content high to attract more readers and gain popularity with links and word of mouth. If you treat the spiders right they will return the favor.

Build those links to your site and get as many as you can. The more links you have to your site the more doorways to traffic and spiders to find your site. If you can get links from popular and powerful quality sites it will let the search engines know that your site is also of quality. Otherwise quality authority sites would not be linking to it. Quality web directories are a great way to build these needed links. If will help you gain better ranking in search engine results and by that more traffic.

By building the content your site will gain pages and when you have many, you should build a sitemap. This helps search engine spiders to find all the pages of your website so they don't miss any of the content.

You can gain some traffic with social networking with your contacts. Give them good online content and tools they can use and reference to give them a reason to keep coming back.

When your building links use use some keywords as the anchor text for the hyperlink without spamming it with keywords. Also vary them up so they are not all the same or it will seem like the linking is not natural and through automation. If you use these methods your search engine rankings will improve to increase the visibility of your site and the traffic that you receive.

Useful CSS Tips & Tricks For Web Designers - Search Engine Friendly CSS

The traditional ruler of the Website development and website coding, HTML received an add-on in form of CSS or Cascading Style Sheets. This is a new technique for website xhtml and css coding that enables alteration of visual presentation of web pages without actually using HTML or xHTML. Add to it the advantage of JavaScript to in and Bingo! You get a perfect tool to play with the search engine crawlers and make them get you great search engine rankings. However, it may not be perfectly safe but still you can use them cautiously.

In the stone age of search engines (around 1998) a number of web promoters tricked the crawlers by adding hidden text to the web pages. This hidden text carried nothing but an incorrigible list of key words and phrases in varying combinations, repeated over an over again. Search engines soon started banning the web pages carrying such a dirty gimmick to get search engine ranking. However, CSS added a twist to this old tale. It enables you to add hidden text to the web page without getting you in the bad books of the crawlers.

Another CSS trick is making links vanish. Link popularity is an important criterion in search engine ranking. A number of search engines consider the outbound links when they rank your page. However you may not want your customers to be redirected to the website of a potential competitor. CSS gives you the option of keeping these links hidden from the eyes of human visitors. It takes advantage of crawlers' inability to see what comes up on screen.

Google Blog Search What You Should Know

Google is moving in so many directions, it can be somewhat

difficult to keep track of all the services and tools

offered by this premium search engine. For the seasoned

webmaster as well as the ordinary surfer, keeping a clear

picture of what Google is offering is sometimes a little

overwhelming.

Recently, there has been a deluge of new products from

Google. If you hit the 'more' button on the Google Home

page, you will see a smattering of Google services and

tools. Including Desktop 2, Print, Maps, Google Earth...

you can even search and browse mail-order catalogs.

Now comes Blog Search - where Internet users can now

search blogs for their information. This is a welcomed

service, especially for bloggers. Google's embracing of

blogs started with the purchase of Blogger.com and got

sidetracked with the 'costly' argument over which

syndication standard to use. Most favored RSS while

Google promoted the Atom standard for its blog feeds.

Blogs are online journals where ordinary people give

opinions, information and links on topics that matter

to them. These topics can be anything under the

sun: from politics to needlepoint to corporate blogs

to your local school's basketball team. Blogs give a

real insight into what ordinary surfers believe and feel

about a subject.

It's an instant snapshot of our world in words and pictures

-- but mostly words.

Blogs are often associated with RSS because RSS is

the syndication standard that sends out the blog's content

in little snippets to all interested parties. Subscribers

to these blogs can read these headlines in News Readers or

Aggregators and then click on the links to get more

information. Keep in mind, the original acronym for

RSS is 'Rich Site Summary', but that meaning has been

somewhat replaced by the major benefit of RSS which

is 'Really Simple Syndication'.

Many browsers are now coming with an RSS reader already

built-in, such as the popular Mozilla's Firefox browser.

Microsoft's new Longhorn version of Windows will have

RSS built into its operating system.

Recently Google has embraced RSS in its Desktop 2 program

and in the XML powered Google Sitemaps. Now comes Blog

Search, a way to search all the information in these blogs.

In the past, most bloggers have used the Technorati site

to search blogs as well as RSS search offered by MSN and

Yahoo.

Some things you should know about Google Blog Search:

1. How to access it? You can use the blog Search site

http://www.blogsearch.google.com or http://www.search.blogger.com

You may also use the Navigational Bar on any BlogSpot

blog, plus you will also be able to access it from your

Blogger Dashboard. The Blogger Navbar gives you the option

of searching within the current blog or searching all blogs.

Major criticism -- Google has not placed a link on its

home (front) page of Google search; as blogs and blogging

becomes even more popular maybe this error will be fixed.

2. Who's included? It should be noted that Google will index

all blogs using a site feed (RSS or Atom) and you can get

your Blog indexed just by using an automatic pinging service

offered by such sites as http://www.weblogs.com

Please Note -- Your older posts may not be present in search

results, Google started indexing feeds around June, 2005.

Older posts may be included at a later date.

3. What search operators or query words are supported? You can

use these standard Google Search modifiers and Google will

restrict your results -- link:, site:, intitle: plus new

ones for Blog Search -- inblogtitle:, inposttitle:,

inpostauthor:, and blogurl:

4. Can I subscribe to search results? Yes, just use the News

Aggregator of your choice and subscribe to the feeds at

the bottom of the results page, then you can be automatically

updated as new posts come online.

5. Can I use Safesearch? Yes, Google lets you filter out any

unwanted sites.

More information on Blog Search click here:

Blog Search is a great extension to the Google Search Empire,

it will give surfers access to a greater range of material.

No doubt, this is not the end of what Google has to offer to

its loyal followers. Persistent speculation and rumors abound,

it just won't go away, rumors that Google is NOT only designing

its own browser (it owns the domain gbrowser.com) but its own

operating system.

But why stop there -- if you're dreaming of the perfect

search -- you must go further. Google must go further!

And since we're dreaming...

How about a Google delivered Instant Search embedded in a

Google RSS Powered Operating System on a Google designed

ultra-portable notebook computer with a wireless cell phone

modem, accessible anywhere in the world...

...wake me up when it arrives!

How To Promote Your Website Using A Google Custom Search Engine

In the old days, the promotion of a website required a variety of techniques. Among these were the submitting of your site to link directories, article marketing and contributing to forums related to your niche. Of course, all of these means of website promotion are still valid, but thinking out of the box is required sometimes. One idea that some have taken on as a means to potentially drive targeted traffic to their site is the use of a Google Custom Search Engine (GCSE).

When I say they promote their site through the use of a GCSE, what I really mean is that they own their own search platform and make use of the Google index as a means to power it while shamelessly and artificially promoting their own sites and products.

It is no secret that when it comes to self promotion, a third party recommendation is a golden opportunity for any business to serve it's own interests. With respect to third party recommendations, this is exactly what search directories do. They serve results based around their algorithm-based opinion of what results are relevant with respect to a certain keyword or term. But, what if you could harness the power of an enormous search engine index and literally manipulate the results so as to include or promote certain sites, namely yours, and exclude your competitors. A GCSE can do exactly that if, and that is a big if, you can build it into a trusted resource.

The nice thing about the GCSE platform is the fact that you already have access to their index. They make it freely available to any and all webmasters who want to use it. So how does one build a custom search platform?

Building you own search website is a strikingly simple process, but keep in mind that we want our custom search engine to be a third party to our own site, not related in any way. For that reason, we would want to put it under a domain name separate from our own and hosting separate from our own. One thing I have seen some custom search engine builders to is create a themed custom search engine that boasts highly tuned, relevant results around a given niche.

To do this yourself, simply log on to Google account. If you do not have an account, start one and then click on the "new search engine" link. Next, give your search engine a name as well as a description.

Once you have given your GCSE a name and description, next apply the niche keywords that your custom search engine will be based around. Then, select what language your custom search engine will be using. This is a great feature for region-specific custom search engines.

Now comes the fun part. The next options are based around the search results themselves. You have the ability to select how to search included sites. You can either list out the approved sites to show in the search results, or you can set your custom search engine to list all relevant results for a particular search query in the Google database while emphasizing or promoting the selections on your list. There you have it, blatant self promotion.

Additionally, the option of showing ads, which can be linked with an AdSense account, or not showing ads is left up to the webmaster. A GCSE like this can be monetized in several ways. Google ads can easily be removed and custom links or banners put in their place. Additionally, paid results can be offered by the selling of placement on the emphasized sites list.

A search engine like this can be set up very easily. All that is required is basic understanding of HTML and a little graphic design to make it look professional.

For a Google custom search engine to work for your website, it will have to become a trusted resource which means actively managing and promoting it just as you would your own website. Make sure that it is not related to your site in any way which means putting it on it's own domain and hosting. If successful, a GCSE can make a powerful third party recommendation.
