Article Promotion Secrets - Length of Your Articles

There are so many article directories online and so you can imagine that each of them have their own preferred lengths of articles.

Here are some guidelines that should help you decide the number of words you should use to write an article.

If you are writing articles strictly for the purpose of creating back links for your site then you can get away with writing the minimum number of words. So if you are writing article solely to generate back links then write them as short as 200 words. However, if you are writing articles to generate traffic to your site then your articles need to give good content. They need to contain valuable information and a such you are going to need a minimum of 250 words for these type of articles.

Again, when you submit your articles to the better directories, a lot of the webmasters who will take your article and publish it on their sites will prefer the longer article of about 350-450 words. A lot of the bigger and better article directories prefer your articles to be between 250 - 350 words each. Now you need to keep this in mind if you are attempting to attract massive traffic to your web site.

So it is important that you know what it is you are trying to achieve with your articles. Are you writing to generate back links or drive traffic? You should actually be trying to achieve both these these goals. If you do both goal will be achieved over time.
