Promotion Method #1: Article Marketing

Article Marketing is one of the most effective and affordable ways to promote a website. The best part about article marketing is that it brings in targeted traffic, so you're getting visitors that want to be at your site.

In order to master this traffic generation method, you must first identify keyword phrases that are searched often in Google. You can do this via Word Tracker's free keyword research tool.

The next step is to research your competition, so type in your keyword phrase into Google with quotes around it and go after phrases with less than 10,000 listed next to where it says results.

So, if you wanted to rank for pet supplies I'd type in "pet supplies" with quotes to see the number of competing websites.

Of course, you can submit your article to 100s of directories using software tools, but you're not going to amplify how much authority Google gives you because it recognizes duplicate content.

If you haven't discovered Digg, Technorati, StumbleUpon, and other Social Media platforms then you're really missing out. These are 100% free to use and will generate tons of instant visitors to your website depending on the attractiveness of your headline and article/video.

Of course, having keyword targeted pages on your site is important, too. But if you have several hundred high quality one way anchor text links that have your keyword phrase then you're going to rank well for that term.
