Ninety-seven per cent of all people who try internet marketing fail. I vowed not to be one of those 97%. When I first started article marketing about eight months ago, I was lost. I didn't know anything but I was smart enough to realize I couldn't do it on my own. I did some homework and found there really are marketers with six figure incomes. I determined to learn to do what they do. I'm not an inventor and I wasn't about to reinvent the wheel.
The first thing I learned about was keywords. Keywords are the the main building blocks to any marketing campaign. Keywords are what people type in when they are searching for something. They might type something like "top electric iron" or "end panic attacks" or "make money at home." Whatever it is, there's probably a product or service you can sell them. But first they have to find you on Google.
(Yes, there are other search engines besides Google like Yahoo and MSN. I emphasize Google because it is the largest and almost 80% of internet searches are through Google)
Suppose someone types "make money online" into the Google search. I just did it now and there were 165,000,000 results. There are ten results per page. That makes 16,500,000 pages. If you want your article to be on page one of 16,500,000, "make money online" isn't the best keyword to use. You need something more specific, you need keywords with fewer searches.
You could spend hours, days, weeks, searching for the right keyword. Or you could use a FREE tool from Google called the Google Keyword Tool.
The keyword tool will suggest additional keywords you can use and it will tell you how many people in the last month used those keywords in their search. You might want to try "make money online today" or "really make money online." Using the correct keywords in your article is the first step to moving onto the first page of Google.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying every article I write is on the first page of Google all the time, but by using what I've learned, I consistently have articles on page one. That means people are seeing them. As a result people are buying the products and services I promote.
I'm not saying this to brag, but to encourage you. Honestly, if I can do it, so can you.
In the first part of this article we discussed keywords. Now we'll look at the subject of back links. One of the factors Google uses to rank your articles, blogs, web sites, etc. is the number of other sites linking back to it. Your promotion will rank higher when more people are linking back to it. I'll use the word promotion to refer to any article, blog, or web site you're using to promote a product or service.
Until you get some links to it, your promotion will languish in Google's back pages. The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to get back links to your site is to make them yourself.
You can write an article on a related subject and publishing it on an article site like this one, EzineArticles.com. The article you write should be closely related to the promotion you're linking to, and of course, the article you write will contain a link to your site. Here is a list of sites where you can submit articles with links back to your site:
1ArticleWorld.com
A1Articles.com
ArticleCity.com
ArticleDashboard.com
ArticleGeek.com
ArticleLocker.com
EasyArticles.com
SmashArticles.com
TheArticleLibrary.com
These sites are all absolutely free to use and will allow you to post articles. Be sure to read the terms of service for each one. They are not all the same.
So why do 97% of people who try internet marketing fail? It's because they don't know what steps to take to be successful or they aren't willing to follow those steps.
You'll notice I used the word "steps." I didn't say secrets or tricks or gimmicks or mysteries or anything like that. There's no trick to it, anyone who can use a computer can replicate the steps necessary to get there. It's just a matter of knowing what to do and then doing it. Think of it as following a recipe. If you open a cookbook and follow a recipe doing exactly what it tells you, you will end up with that same dish.
A year ago at this time I didn't know the steps. I learned them, though, and followed them. It was work, but it was worth it. I've learned from pros how to get my promotions on page one of Google. That's the key. Get on the first page of Google and 80% of people searching will find you. Only 20% move on to page two.
So far we've touched on keywords and back links. Now we'll look at the importance of blogs in getting our promotions onto page one.
Google likes blogs because they are written by real people and they are personal. There are hundreds, even thousands of blog sites you can use, but two of the largest are Blogspot.com and Wordpress.com. These are general blog sites and topics range from soup to nuts. You can have your own blog on these or find a site that is more specific to what you are promoting.
The purpose of your blog is to write about something related to your promotion and and then link it to an article you've written. Your article will rank higher and in turn will become a more powerful back link for your promotion. Then make a link to your blog inside your promotion. The cycle is article link to promotion, promotion link to blog, blog link to article.
Set up your links up this way and you will have only one-way links. Google gives more weight to one-way links than it does to two-way or reciprocal links.
I use the steps laid out here to get my promotions on page one of Google. I didn't make these steps up and I didn't learn them on my own. I researched and followed the advice of experts.
For more information and to get a step by step guide to learn exactly what I've learned, read "How to Get on Google Page One."
Getting onto the first page of Google isn't difficult. It's work, but anyone can do it if they can follow a simple recipe. If you want to be one of the successful ones, then learn how to get the recipe at "How to get on Google Page One.!"
